“Tamarama is a place with a spell-binding energy.” Danny Avidan on the location of Dare Property Group’s latest development.

Sydney-based boutique development company, Dare Property Group is the brainchild of Danny Avidan. Danny previously formed RDA Property Developments helping to create a glitterati of exclusive boutique apartment blocks, stretching across Sydney’s coastal suburbs. From the meticulously appointed The Carlton at Vaucluse, to the ground-breaking design of the Foveaux at Surry Hills, to Bronte Place with its 21 apartments that set about changing the face of the suburb, in a short space of time Danny has already carved out a property legacy. His next stop is Tamarama.

Kalypso Tamarama by Danny Avidan’s Dare Property Group

To be known as Kalypso, the project transforms a rare spot in the stunning eastern suburb. It’s given Danny a twice-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enhance Tamarma’s natural beauty with a luxury residential building.

As Danny explains: “Tamarama is a place with a spell-binding energy. It’s not often you have the opportunity to develop in a location of this calibre, with views over a secluded cove, surrounded by stunning rugged cliffs. However, we’ve now had this opportunity twice, firstly with The Wave, which was also designed by MHNDU and has now become a landmark Tamarama building.”

To be known as Kalypso, the project will be built on a corner location only a six-minute walk from Tamarama beach. Kalypso features 11 bespoke residences of one, two and three-bedrooms, including a penthouse and two sub-penthouses, each designed to maximise highly sought-after views over the beach.

Dare Property Group builds residences that aim to create a unique aesthetic across the property landscape and present astute owners with unquestioned investment value.

Avidan said: “given Kalypso’s iconic Tamarama location, in the heart of Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the building needed to be designed to reflect and uplift its site.” He wanted a design that not only echoed the spell-binding energy of the area but that also truly maximised every potential view over Tamarama Beach.

The striking design of Kalypso by MHN Design Union (MHNDU) evokes the understated elegance and coastal beauty of Tamarama and creates the illusion of the building that’s being carved into the unique and rare beachside location.

The project enjoys equally inspired interior design, with renowned Melbourne-based MIM Design creating timeless interiors designed to capture views at every opportunity. The apartment layouts provide for convenient, but luxurious everyday living, and stress-free entertaining. It’s truly a project for a discerning audience that’s designed with lifestyle needs and aspirations front and centre.

As Ben Stewart, Senior Director, CBRE Asia Pacific, says,“Everything about Kalypso is unsurpassed. This project will be ideal for high-performing executives ready to slow down their life and reap the rewards of their hard work”.

Danny explains more about how Kalypso has been created to give residents an enviable beachside lifestyle: “Given MHNDU’s understanding and appreciation for the beauty of Tamarama, they were an easy choice for Kalpyso, which they’ve crafted with the contrasting tones and textures of the rugged coast it overlooks, foremost in their minds. It’s been designed to emulate this raw natural beauty with its curved walls and refined material palette. And inside, MIM Design has paid homage to the nearby beach with stone benchtops and a colour palette of various tones of sand, ivory and subtle shades of blue, reflecting the nearby rugged cliffs and surf.”

“Each living room will have a beautiful Bianco Lana marble hearth fireplace as its centrepiece, with copper joinery detailing and floor inlets showcasing the supreme craftsmanship we have commissioned for Kalypso. The abundant natural light, flowing curves and organic materials will provide a highly elegant, but understated backdrop for our residents to live an enviable relaxing beachside lifestyle.”

The crowning glory of Kalypso are the three luxury penthouses with unrivalled views to Bondi and Tamarama from separate balconies. They also feature marble fireplaces, ocean views from free-standing bathtubs, expansive dressing rooms and wine cellars.

Kalypso Tamarama – Living area and views

Reflecting on a project that he believes will attract the most discerning of buyers Ben Stewart, Senior Director, CBRE Asia Pacific, said: “Kalypso is going to set the benchmark way higher for luxury apartment living, not only in Sydney’s east but also internationally… it’s truly visionary. Also, we anticipate we’ll receive plenty of interest from ex-pats returning to Australia wanting to experience the idyllic coastal Australian lifestyle they’ve sacrificed while working overseas.”

Ben is also impressed by how Kalypso will offer buyers an incomparable lifestyle – both inside and outside the homes: “Kalypso will offer its residents everything, from large format layouts, complete with the finest fixtures and fittings available, and features that are rarely seen in apartment projects, including bespoke wine racks, integrated Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and custom bi-fold shutters and concrete render feature walls. And then there’s the enviable eastern suburbs lifestyle literally on their doorstep. We’re expecting a lot of interest from buyers wanting to be within walking distance to Icebergs Dining Room and Bar and the iconic pool, Totti’s, North Bondi Fish, and all the other amazing dining spots.”
